Did You Know? |
Was a star with the St. Michael's Majors of the OHA in the late 50's prior to his NHL days. Played in eight All-Star Games (1962, 1963, 1964, 1967, 1968, 1970, 1971, 1973). In the WHA, after the Minnesota Fighting Saints were excommunicated, was shipped off to Edmonton. Among the players that were sent with Keon were Jack and Steve Carlson, who would go on to become "the Hanson Brothers." Strangely enough, Edmonton immediately shipped Dave off to the Whalers, and both Carlsons went along with him. In the NHL, Dave played the ironman role. In his 18 seasons in the NHL, he never played under 64 games per season. His penalty minutes are way, way down. He played over a thousand major league games and all he had to show for it was 137 minutes in the box. Amazing. |
(Team award selected by the Board of Directors of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.)
